Arirang UPDATE

Arirang is now Oliran.  The word on the street is that a company by the same name based in New Jersey sued Arirang (Bloomsburg) for rights to the name so they changed their name to Oliran.

"True Grit", "The King's Speech", "127 Hours", and "The Fighter" could probably be interchanged since they were all very well done and had their moments with attempting to move me.  Both had chuckle worthy moments and all fun to watch.

Oscar's 2011 Best Picture nominees

There were 10 films nominated for the Best Picture Oscar in 2011.
Those films were:

"Black Swan", "The Fighter", "Inception", "The Kids Are All Right",
"The King's Speech", "127 Hours", "The Social Network",
"Toy Story 3", "True Grit", "Winter's Bone"

When I review a movie, I typically put a lot of emphasis on its ability to move me emotionally whether it be through tears and/or laugher.  Sometimes a movie doesn't have to move me emotionally, but it can be just so damn entertaining that you forget about the outside world, and the only thing that exists at that very moment are the images and sounds being presented to you.  With that in mind, this is how I rank the Oscar nom'ed movies.  Note:  I have not seen "The King's Speech" at the time of this post.

3. Toy Story 3
4. True Grit
5. 127 Hours
6. The Fighter
7. The Social Network
8. The Kids Are All Right
9. Winter's Bone

At a later date, I may devote a post to each of these movies, but I will say that "Inception" and "Black Swan" fell into the "so damn entertaining" category while "Toy Story 3", "True Grit", "127 Hours" and "The Fighter" fell into the "emotionally moving" category, ranked from "moving" me the most to least.  "The Social Network" was a very good movie, and I plan on giving it a second watch.  "The Kids Are All Right" and "Winter's Bone" shouldn't have been nominated and were pretty much a waste of time to watch.  I plan on watching "The King's Speech" once it becomes available on Netflix on the 19th of April.

Bob's Burgers

What I like about the show is the way that Bob doesn't appear to be the primary focus all the time where usually Peter Griffin, Cleveland Brown, and Stan Smith are in their shows. I like it for two reasons: 1) it allows Bob's family to shine and grow in their own way on the show and with the audience, and 2) I've never been a huge fan of H. Jon Benjamin's voice.

As most would agree, I think Louise is great, but I think what helps that is her brother Gene. He sets her up a lot and also supports her eccentric behavior as if it was normal. I like how they both team up against their oldest sister. Where most kids look up to the elder sibling for guidance, none of that is happening which opens a lot of doors for comedy.

I didn't know how to feel about Bob's wife at first. She appeared to support him blindly but at the same time also voiced her disagreement with certain topics. Now that we've seen her character grow, what I interpret is that she craves to feel large in her tiny slice of the world and I appreciate that. Some of her antics are funny and some fall short, but at the end of the day, this dysfunctional family works together as a unit and they continue to entertain me each week.

You rang? A-ri-rang!

There is not enough good things I can say about Arirang. The hibachi and the sushi are delicious. Chef Justin is fantastic and Chef Kent is great as well. I've never been to a hibachi place that has been this entertaining. "Ichiban" in Williamport, PA is also delicious as well as "desaki" in Swiftwater, PA, but Arirang blows them both out of the water! The prices are very reasonable and it is very affordable especially during lunch hours. Last, and certainly not least, Arirang is very generous with their sake. It's definitely dependent on the chef you get, but if you request the right one, then you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this place and it is most certainly a bright star in the black hole of Bloomsburg, PA.
